Mobilizing Data for Talent Development

Communities need reliable and consistent information about which industries, skills, occupations, and education provide pathways to well-paying careers. Mobilizing Data for Talent Development set out to help regions do that work.

Led by the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the program worked with seven organizations that are leaders in data collaboration and insights. The work looked different in every region. Across all seven, one lesson stood out: data infrastructure delivers the most value when it is tied to the real decisions a region faces.

The StoryMap and case studies below share what each organization set out to do, what they learned, and what other regions can take from their experience.
